The Gospel of John Scripture Study
February 20, March 5, 12 & 19
6:30 pm – 8 pm at St. Augustine’s
The gospel of John has been called “the spiritual gospel”, and “the eagle’s Word” because of its soaring, inspiring insight into the life and teachings of Jesus Christ. In the words of this gospel, we hear the divine invitation to deeper union with God, and to more abundant life here and now. The latest written of the four gospels, John has been a perennial source of spiritual renewal and prayer from the earliest days of our faith to the present. Come join Jim Krisher as he explores selected themes and texts from John with an eye to what living in the truth of this gospel can mean for our lives today. For more details and to register, visit staugustinesparish.org or call the parish office at 315-638-0585.

The “3 L’s” of Lent
During Lent we focus on fasting, praying, and almsgiving. At. St. Augustine’s, we will be reflecting on each of these in a different way and giving you a spiritual practice to use each week during Lent.
In addition to our present understanding of fasting, like giving up candy, we may want to let go of something that is keeping us from being present to God. As we pray this Lent let’s focus on listening more to God. When we think of almsgiving, which is giving money to the poor, let’s extend this practice to loving others in our home, community, and in our workplace.
Letting Go – What is keeping us from experiencing God’s presence in our lives.
Listening – When and where do we listen to God.
Loving – How do we love others as God loves us.
